My Bio
Grunge and paint splatters are two of the most favoured techniques of Richard. He describes his art as free and unconfined, compelling meanings that connect. Richard does this mostly through mediums such as watercolour, pen and ink, vinyl and screen printing. He quotes "It's my art, so I do it to how I feel it's to be done."
Born March 29, 1993, he was a very free thinking child that always questioned why the grass was green or why the sea was blue. At about age 4, he started watching a children's programme called "Pappy Land". At the end of the program the host used to do a drawing and then make the drawing come alive, this fascinated young Richard and it was then he heard his calling for art and answered to it. He started out drawing cartoons such as Mickey Mouse and Dragon Ball Z, then he advanced to drawing creatures from his imagination, then to people and to still life.
The only medium used by Richard up to grade 9 was pencil crayon and pen. In grade 10, his art teacher Jeniffer Goffe taught him how to use paint and expounded his field of creativity. This field was greater expanded in grade 11 by new art teacher, Monique Barnett, who illuminated his mind by introducing art to him in a different light. Richard was inspired by artists such as Bill Watterson, Tim Burton, Las May and Clovis.
The artist's paintings are based mostly upon events such as love, heartbreak, and social influence while his vinyl and graphic pieces are mostly comical or calligraphy.
Richard wishes to pursue a path in art in fields such as painting, graphic designing and fashion designing in the future.
